The Future and Heart of Luyang, The Logg by KTI

Integrating Borneo's charm, the community and futuresque structures for a modern and functional lifestyle in the heart of Luyang

Picture Luyang - a diverse and sprawling neighbourhood rich in history and culture. To locals, Luyang is home to some of the most popular eateries around, ranging from fish head noodle soup, to dim sum, to porridge and fried dumplings.

There are traditional medicinal shops, newspaper stands and bustling food markets where "aunties and uncles" gather in the early hours to retrieve provisions and enjoy a cup of coffee.

The youngsters alternatively often gather at later hours into the night at the numerous booming pubs across Luyang. There’s almost no need to ever leave.

Prior to the conception of The Logg, Luyang however bore a spot of land that was somewhat neglected.

While others left it be dominated by squatters, Directors of KTI Development saw it’s, what would have otherwise been, wasted potential.

In 2015, KTI began to explore the area which they found to be well-connected and full of opportunity. Being one of the last plots of land in the city, they wanted a mixed development that would be neighbourhood centric and mutually valuable for the entire community.

It did not take long before they spoke with the surrounding neighbours of the land to survey for their opinion and to work with local agency, Lembaga Pembangunan Perumahan Dan Bandar (LPPB) to begin developing the land.

Having the support and understanding from the people in Luyang was an integral step for KTI during the planning phase because the community is ultimately the backbone of The Logg.

Episode 1 of "Discovering Luyang", an initiative to highlight and support the local businesses and people of the town.

Being in the centre of it all, KTI wanted to ensure that The Logg would not just become another building but it would enhance the already-thriving livelihood of the community. Hence their slogan transpired into “The Heart of Luyang”.

With this concept in mind, The Logg is built with the 5 pillars;

  1. Shorea N Astoria
  2. Parkhill
  3. The Boulevard Mall
  4. Offices
  5. Avani Hotels & Resorts

Residents, tourists, shoppers and office-goers will find themselves catered to at The Logg, which plans to harmonise lifestyle, work, nature and leisure.

When asked about the team behind The Logg and how their collaboration with award-winning and internationally acclaimed interior designer and hotel chain alchemised, the eyes of the Sales Director of KTI Sdn Bhd, Stella Loke, lit up.

In an almost serendipitous exchange of events, Stella came in contact with Avani Hotels & Resorts back in 2015 when they were first conceptualising the development.

Considering its location and surrounding amenities, Stella explained that they knew they had to select a hotel which had values and themes that aligned with theirs for The Logg.

Ideally one with a design and build concept that allowed them the freedom to mold the feel of the hotel to their specific theme of community and have an element of home development.

Internationally acclaimed
hotelier fits the glove

Avani Hotels & Resorts has hotels across the globe. In Thailand alone they have over 10 uniquely built resorts with suburban-curated selections that have similar concepts to that of The Logg.

Within 4 hours, Stella heard back from Avani Hotels, already looking to expand into Sabah. It was a match and through their panel of resident interior designers, Ms Karen Hay, Founder of IN-Duldge LTD joined the team.

Together with one of the world’s leading interior designers, Stella and the team began exploring fun and innovative ways to incorporate style and functionality into the hotel’s design based on the Luyang history and culture.
